How to Prepare Customer-supplied Artwork

Call PPS Before Generating Artwork!

You'll save time and money by calling PPS before generating artwork through an art studio, outside design house or your in-house art department. Besides saving hassle, you'll avoid the extensive – and expensive – touchup and rework that is often required. When PPS does the artwork, we pay to fix it any problems, not our customer.

General Guidelines for Artwork

Sharpness – Art must be sharp, clean and without fuzzy or broken type or lines.

Colors – Furnish a separate piece of art or film for each color, with bleeds and traps for screen prints.

Size – Art should be 100 percent of the finished dimensions.

Registration – Printers' register marks should be on each flat.

Stability – If film is furnished, it should be on a stable base, emulsion down, for second surface printing. It should be emulsion up for first surface printing. (As a general rule, only the first surface printing will be the selected texture.)

Guidelines for Within Artwork

   1. Minimum line width of .012 for positive type lines.

   2. Minimum line width of .015 for text and lines reversed out of a background.

   3. Minimum counter size of .020 x .020 (center of A, e, etc.)

   4. Color-to-color bleed must be minimum of .015.

   5. Bleed for outside perimeter should be .125.

   6. If crop lines are used, they should be .010.

Please Also Note:

• Unless otherwise instructed, PPS will use customer-furnished artwork without alteration or touch-up.

• Ensure that all text, windows, LED areas and other art components are dimensionally correct.

• Carefully check spelling, phone numbers, websites, logos, etc.

• If you choose to simply furnish base art with all the text, lines, windows, etc., PPS will prepare the film for each color from your base art. (There will be a charge for this.)
